Changes to Eligible Occupation List and English language exemption
Changes to the Subclass 457 visa Eligible Occupation List came into effect on 15 February 2011. Seven occupations were removed from the list while four were added.
SPECIFICATION OF OCCUPATIONS FOR NOMINATIONS IN RELATION TO SUBCLASS 457 (BUSINESS (LONG STAY)) AND SUBCLASS 442 (OCCUPATIONAL TRAINEE) VISAS
(PARAGRAPHS 2.72(10)(aa) and 2.72I(5)(ba))
English language exemptions for some occupations were also slightly modified.
All primary applicants must meet the English language requirement for visa grant unless they fall into one of the categories of exempted persons, and where English language proficiency is not required for registration or licensing purposes.
Exemptions are based on:
* Country of Citizenship
* Nominated occupation
* Salary level
* Secondary and/or Higher Education studies.

hi, i am kaarthikeshan from sri lanka, basically i am agriculture farmer,from a farming background, i have more than 12 years of mixed crop farming experience, so i am looking for a 457 visa as a mixed crop farmer, can i get a job in this field in australian regional areas?

Good day! I just want to know about the english language exemptions. I am currently holding a 457 visa and I want to convert it into permanent residency but the problem is my IELTS test had expired last 2009 already. Am I included in the exemptions? Furthermore, how much do you charge in facilitating my paperworks for permanent residency. thank you so much and I hope to hear from you soon.

Our company is looking to sponsor a potential Visa Applicant. The problem we have, is the Eligible Occupation List does not include a suitable Occupation to suit our applicant. How can we get the Occupation to be added to the list ?
Any advise will be greatly appreciated.
